Cliff Russell WR - Utah
Facts: All-America candidate has blazing speed... believed to be fastest Ute ever... runs 4.27 second 40 yard... 41" vertical jump is best on team... also did well on strength tests (400 pound squat, 300 pound bench press)... starting flanker ("Z" receiver) since his sophomore year... sat out most of spring ball as precautionary measure for slight hamstring pull.
UTAH 2000: Despite missing all of three and most of four games with a broken arm, was honorable mention all-MWC pick by both coaches and media... fractured arm in first quarter of October 21 game vs. CSU... in just eight games was Utah's leading receiver with 37 catches... 517 receiving yards ranked second on team... averaged 64.6 ypg and 14.0 yards per catch... best games came against Arizona (10 receptions for 141 yards) and Washington State (8 receptions for 131 yards and 2 TDs). 1999- Played in nine games and started eight in regular season... also started in bowl game... injured knee in season-opener and missed next two games... ranked fourth in MWC in receiving yards per game (66.8)... Utah's second leading receiver had 34 catches for 601 yards and 3 touchdowns... averaged 17.7 yards per catch, also second on team... had career game against Wyoming, catching 6 passes for 155 yards and 1 TD... 80-yard touchdown reception against Cowboys... 4 receptions for 95 yards and 1 (70-yard) TD vs. BYU... led all receivers in Las Vegas Bowl with 5 catches for 96 yards (long of 39). 1998- Played in two games (Louisville and UTEP)... missed six games with broken collar bone.
