Game Summary
The 8th grade team sure knows how to finish up a season. Knowing they had to win the game for at least a chance at 1st place in the division. The 8th grade team took care of their business fast with a final score of 32-6. What a great game these kids played WOW. There last game as Belleville Bobcats. The linemen up against an 8th grade kid 6'4", and they walked all over him. Collin Wisnewski Played another outstanding game 4-5 87 yards 2 TD's, ran the ball 1 time for 5 yards, also had a 25 yards kick return. Now I can finally say it, NO interceptions the entire season!! Wide receiver Billy Stuessy had his best run of the season an 80-yard reverse for a TD, with incredible blocking from Keith Gobel, and Ethan Schmaling. Billy also had 1 catch for 20 yards. Tailback Adam Askey had 9 carries for 138 yards 1 TD, and 2 catches for 64 yards and a TD. Fullback Ethan Schmaling had 6 carries for 44 yards. Ben Marsh had 2 carries for 34 yards and 1 TD, 1 punt return for 10 yards. Wide Receiver Keith Gobel had 4 carries for 4 yards. Cody Schultz caught 1 pass for 3 yards and a TD. Four players with touchdowns, that is a well balanced team. Tyler Baumgartner kicked 2 extra points. The offensive linemen played an outstanding game once again opening up nice running lanes for the backs with Tyler Baumgartner, Nathan Clifton, Mike Doyle, Robbie Kelly, and Nick Watson. On the defensive side of the ball Nick Watson sacked the quarterback. Adam Watkins, and Tyler Baumgartner both recovered fumbles, Adam Askey had 1 interception. The defense bent but did not break, trying to keep up to Deforests big running attack. They were tested all day with Nick Murphy, Adam Watkins, Brock Peters, Austin " big hit" Blumer, Justin Hellenbrand, Ben Marsh, Jaren Haser, Chase Sellnow and Neil Pulfer. Deforest did not even score till there was less then 1:00 left in the game

Well the season is over, these kids played the best of football in 5 years, with a final record of 7-1, and 2nd in their division, only 1/2 game out of 1st place. It sure was fun watching these kids grow up, and act and look like a great team. I can only say, as I have all season, if these kids stick together Belleville High School will have one exciting team to watch in the near future. Good luck team, stick together and be proud!
