Game Summary
What a perfect day to play football; frost in the morning wind coming off the lake and a Madison team coming to Belleville to play a game they may have wished they had stayed home. Belleville / Albany kills Spartans 41-0. Tight End Cody Schultz had his biggest day this season. Cody caught the only two balls thrown in the game, both for touchdowns and total of 99 yards receiving. What excellent performance by Cody. Quarterback Collin Wisnewski Threw the 2 passes to a wide open Cody both times. Fullback Ethan Schmaling had 3 carries for 53 yards and 1 TD. Ben Marsh had a 40-yard punt return for a TD. Tailback Adam Askey carried the ball 4 times for 127 yards and 2 TD's, returned 2 kick offs for 25 yards. Fullback Nathan Clifton had 1 carry for 4 yards. Tyler Baumgartner kicked 4 extra points. Billy Stuessy Kicked 1 extra point, in fact it was the other teams ball he kicked it in the lake.(opps) Keith Gobel had 2 carries for 3 yards. The offense played an outstanding game, and the defense again holding the opponent to no points, even after the Spartans got within the 10-yard line. The offensive line, lead by the Center Mike Doyle, Robbie Kelly, Nathan Clifton, Tyler Baumgartner, and Nick Watson opened up the running game. Total of 194 yards on the ground. These student athletes are sure something to watch. On defense Ben Marsh had 4 ½ tackles and 1 sack. Justin Hellenbrand had 1 interception. Austin Blumer had 1 interception that he ran to the Spartan 1 yard line, 24 yards total. Case Sellnow had 3 tackles, and 1 ½ sacks. Robbie Kelly had 3 tackles, and ½ sack. Tyler Baumgartner had 3 tackles. All the stats are unofficial. The entire defense had another solid effort with Adam Watkins, Neil Pulfer, Jaren Haser, and Brock Peters. The coaching staff Head coach Mike Doyle, Ernie Pulfer, Tim Askey, and Steve Meier would like to thank all the parents for their help with video, stats, and running the down markers and chains. I think we all work together to make this a fun and exciting year for this team.
The next 2 games on the list are New Glarus at the Belleville Sports Complex, Tuesday the 7th of October at 7:30 PM, The only night game of the season, this is a must see game, please come on out a cheer on your Belleville / Albany 8th grade team. Next Saturday Oct. 11th Lake Mills makes the trip to play at the Belleville community Park at 9:00AM. Good luck team!!
